About this property

Welcome to Borrego Springs Motel

Dating back to the 1940s, Borrego Springs Motel is a solar-powered property that offers simple, budget-friendly accommodations with a vintage charm. Guests can enjoy amenities such as free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a seasonal outdoor pool, while pets and children are equally welcome. The motel’s layout encourages a small-community feel, featuring shared spaces like a fire pit, barbeque area, and a lending library, which guests have appreciated for adding a unique and welcoming touch.

Located just two blocks from the shops and restaurants around Christmas Circle, the motel provides convenient access to the heart of Borrego Springs. Outdoor enthusiasts will find it an excellent base for exploring Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, about four miles away, as well as nearby attractions like the Galleta Meadows Sculptures and Borrego Palm Canyon Trailhead. Several neighboring hotels offer additional accommodation options within a short drive.

Rooms are described as clean and cozy with comfortable bedding, though some guests note that the walls are thin and the mattresses can be firm. There are no televisions in the rooms, which allows guests to enjoy quiet evenings and stargaze under the clear desert skies. Check-in is self-service and contactless, which reviewers have found efficient and convenient, supported by responsive management seen as attentive and helpful.

This motel suits travelers looking for an affordable, low-key stay close to nature and local attractions, rather than those seeking extensive on-site amenities. The absence of a restaurant or fitness center reflects the motel’s focus on essential services and a relaxed, outdoors-focused experience. While the small size and vintage style may not appeal to everyone, many guests value its peaceful setting and thoughtful extras like a community cupboard stocked with essentials.

My husband and I and our small dog stayed here last month. It was fantastic! The room was very clean and nicely furnished. I would have liked to unpack my clothes into a dresser, but it didn't really matter because everything else was so great. The self check in and keyless doors are brilliant. If you forget anything there is a community cupboard outside with sunscreen, bandaids and other items. Each room has a small table and chairs outside the door. There is a fire pit area and a BBQ area. There is even a little library! I learned a lot about the local plants and history from books available there. The pool looked inviting but it was too chilly for me to swim in early March. It was quiet and dark at night and he stars were spectacular. The location of the motel is perfect, close to town and restaurants. Close to the wonderful sculptures and close to the wildflower bloom. Beautiful landscaping too. The owners have thought of everything to make this motel a wonderful place to stay.

Quiet, affordable, and it felt safe. The rooms were small but cozy and clean, great for 1-2 people. The manager was very responsive and helpful. The place felt more like a small community than a hotel, as there were only 8 rooms total, a communal barbeque area, a community resource cabinet, and a little lending library. No TV so if that's a deal breaker this isn't your place, but you have a decent view of the night sky and a lot of beautiful desert nature where you won't miss it. There is free wifi that works for messaging/email. I needed email for communication with my group and the wifi was perfect for that. There's a couple bicycles for rental too if that's your thing. The only thing I noticed were that the room walls were a bit thin and you could hear muffled discussions but that's not unusual for a lot of hotels/motels.

I am reluctant to write a review because I feel like I found one of the best kept secrets in Borrego Springs. I have been visiting Borrego Springs for years, I have stayed at some of the nicest resorts the town has to offer and the more modest places as well. My stay at the Borrego Springs motel was equally as comfortable as my stays at other high dollar properties in town. The motel is simply adorable! The management’s complimentary box covers anything one could have forgot to pack and the bed was so comfortable too! I will surely make a point of staying here again! I hope management doesn’t catch on to the gem they have and raise the prices or the cat gets out of the bag and it gets so booked up it becomes impossible to get a room.

Stayed 2 nights on our honeymoon. We wished we had stayed longer, it was so peaceful. The accommodation was clean with good wi fi, air con, fridge and bathroom (shower) Robyn was the perfect host, she even left us a bottle of champagne and card to celebrate our wedding. She was very friendly and very informative about the surroundings. If we are ever lucky enough to visit Borrego springs we would definitely stay here again. PERFECT!

Perfect experience at this charming, vintage motel. It was a spur-of-the-moment trip to Borrego Springs, and this will be my go-to place in the future. Impeccably clean, with heavenly mattresses and special touches like a saltwater pool, fire pit, clubhouse, free little library, and friendly management. Best of all, no TV! If you're looking for dark skies and simple pleasures, this could be the place for you.

Really excellent motel for the price right on the center of Borrego Springs, yet incredibly quiet and serene. Robin was so kind and friendly. My only complaint was that I found the mattress extremely firm - the hardest I think I've ever slept on. Robin was really generous in offering me some extra blankets to put on top if it to soften it up a little. But if a firm mattress is preferable, I highly recommend the place.

Booking a room for this place thru AirBnB was somewhat confusing (it's listed twice on there) but otherwise seamless. I unfortunately missed the deadline to leave a review on that website and so have decided to leave one here. I stayed during early summer. The location relative to sculptures and restaurants was great! Many businesses close during the summer, but the area guide binder inside the room was still very helpful. The host was very communicative (including before arrival), helpful, and kind. The room had everything I needed, including powerful air conditioning. It looked as expected from the photos! I loved the tranquility of being able to lay by the pool under the stars at night! The only thing I wish differently about the room would have been a longer mirror, but that's a minor request. I would gladly stay at this magical desert retreat again!
